"Once out west, Regina married Phillip Feldman in 1887, and in 1893 bought a trading post in Marcus, Washington. She was the only woman in the area for some time, and trimmed hats for some of the Indian women. Seven years later, they sold the trading post to sister Carrie Allenberg Wurzburg and bought an interest in the Mt. Hood Soap and Soda Company in 1905. Today the company, known as the Mt. Hood Chemical Corporation, is run by their grandsons, Philip and James.

In the meantime, Carrie and her family remained in Marcus, Washington and prospered until the Grand Coulee Dam flooded the town. The government bought their property, and the family moved to Spokane, Washington.

It is not clear if daughters, Theresa and Julia went to Elwood with their parents and brothers. Theresa eventually settled in Indianapolis, where she married and had five children. When the children were small, the family moved to Los Angeles, California.

Julia, who may have remained in Cincinnati, jumped off a bridge to her death after a broken love affair.

After spending some years in Elwood, Indiana, Lazarus, Johnetta and the sons moved to Memphis,Tennessee where most of the family remained. Henry and Herman had a business with partner and friend Joe Meister. Willie, a bachelor, worked in the post office, Eugene was also a bachelor. Sigmund, a traveling liquor salesman, moved to New Orleans in 1915, where that branch of the family still lives.

Louis may have gone west with Carrie and Regina, but he eventually settled in Helena, Arkansas and had a family. After his death, his children moved to Memphis.

Lazarus Allenberg died in 1902 at the age of 63. He is buried in Cincinnati along with daughter Julia. After his death, Johnetta lived with daughter Theresa in Indianapolis for a short while. She is buried in Memphis, along with sons Willie, Eugene, Henry and Herman. Today there are seven branches of the Allenberg family that date back seven generations. We live all over the country, with cousins in Memphis, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Portland. Although most of us have never met, we are linked by a common heritage starting with Seligman Allenberg of Germany and continuing with his son, Lazarus, and his ten grandchildren."
